Fire-Dex & Gear Wash Help Out Hurricane Ian Search and Rescue Teams

Fire-Dex and Gear Wash are extending aid to customers affected by Hurricane Ian and the continuous recovery effort that is ongoing throughout Florida. Including critical PPE equipment and discounted cleaning and repair services to keep protective gear in top shape, we're working closely with task force rescue units as they continue to meet needs created by the natural disaster.

“Thousands of rescue workers are braving difficult conditions to help Florida communities recover from the devastation Hurricane Ian caused,” said Lauren Burke DeVere, Fire-Dex President. “It is our privilege to donate gear that will assist in the cleanup so our customers can stay safely prepared for future events.”

Many of our customers have been affected by Hurricane Ian including fire departments throughout Orange, Seminole, Polk and Osceola counties. Currently several task force units representing the departments are engaged in local search and rescue operations and will remain deployed until recovery is over.

Waterlogged gloves and boots are a common problem for emergency responders during disaster relief efforts, and they don’t always have time to wait for gear to dry out. That’s why we donated 50 pairs of rubber boots, 100 pairs of Dex-Pro Gloves and 25 pairs of Dex-Rescue extrication gloves to support their efforts. We delivered the donation along with water, sports drinks, protein bars and other snacks to help keep rescue units hydrated and energized.

Gear Wash is also extending discounted services to certified rescue teams through its Miami and Hudson, Florida, locations. Area fire departments can go online to request discounted service.

“Rescue missions can be extremely hard work and we want to make the task of cleaning gear easier,” said Taylor Burke Gilman, President of Gear Wash. “We are here to ensure our customers’ gear is not compromised by maintaining the best level of protection possible.”
